AND THE #NEXTGENERATION COMPETITION WINNERS ARE…

We are the community we proudly serve.

As part of our ongoing commitment to uplift, upskill and raise our community, our annual Liberty Promenade #NextGeneration competition, held in November 2021, saw five local Mitchells Plain schools winning their share of the R60 000 prize money.

The talent competition – a community favourite – served as a platform for learners to share their message around leadership, through various artforms, including song, dance, poetry and rap. Learners also referenced influential figures, such as Winnie Mandela, Mother Theresa and Mahatma Gandhi in their performances.

Local Mitchells Plain schools Eastville Primary, Eisleben Road Primary, Lentegeur Secondary, Spine Road High and Yellowwood Primary each won R10 000. Yellowwood Primary also garnered the most votes online and walked away with the Community Choice award and an additional R10 000.

Cash prizes will be used to improve the winning schools’ facilities or to purchase much-needed educational resources, such as classroom renovations, textbooks, computer upgrades, projectors, books, upgrades to their school fields and refurbishments of tables and chairs.

To the #NextGeneration of creatives, innovators and leaders, thank you for displaying incredible talent and for inspiring us. And, we look forward to sharing further news on the 2022 #NextGeneration competition on our platforms in the coming months.
